A shower never felt so good...

For me, not her....

And the fact that I am taking an actual shower...less than 15 hours after she is out of surgery is very telling how our night progressed!!!

Normally, I might be able to leave her room long enough to brush my teeth...maybe.  But never before have I been comfortable enough to actually leave the hospital and walk to the Ronald McDonald house to shower until at least the second or third day post op before.

But this recovery is going better than I could have even hoped!

Last night was very quiet.  I slept in the ICU with her and Ellen took the night shift.  I woke a few times to alarms beeping, but other than that I snoozed most of the night.  She simply didn't need me...she is doing THAT well.  Even ellen was able to log a few hours of sleep on the night shift.

She is so amazing!!!!!

She is still very tired, but she has moved on to not only drinking water, but she downed a can of sprite and some juice as well.  She even gets to order an actual breakfast this morning and she is so happy about that.

Food is always good in Emily's world:)

Today she is going to get up and sit in a chair,  unbelievable!

She is having more and more periods of awake time.  She is doing so well.

Everyone is so incredibly pleased with her progress!

Dr. T was in surgery all night so he hasn't rounded yet, but the CVU doc has rounded with a big thumbs up for her progress.  I saw Dr T on the unit several times last night but the fact he didn't come and see us is fabulous.  Normally he ends up in a chair sitting in the room with us, watching and waiting.

So I have no news at all...which is a wonderful thing.

Her blood gasses are staying stable. Her pressures are staying stable..ish.  She has dropped a couple of PVCS because her heart is a bit irritable, but all of these things are not unusual for Emily at all.

What is unusual is that I am actually physically leaving the hospital so soon after surgery:)

We are so incredibly blessed;).
