More progress

You know it's a rough day here in hospital world when I am not updating till 5 pm!

And it was indeed a very rough day.  Emmi was incredibly depressed today.  Understandably but still.  She didn't want to do anything didn't wanna eat.  Didn't want to do her hair or even talk.
She just cried and cried.

It has been such a tough journey for her and this morning her chest tube was still putting out quite a bit.

She was just so darn discouraged.

Plus she has been having increasing issues with lights and screens so she has been pretty cut off from talking with her friends even.

And they put her on an extremely low fat diet that she despises.  Less then 10 grams of fat a day...poor thing.

So she was having a seriously bad day.

But about 2 hours ago all of that changed.  Out of pure desperation I offered up to possibly bring her best friend down for a hospital slumber party....and that helped dramatically:)

Then dr t popped in and decided to pull that nasty chest tube after all.  Although she had put out over 50 cc this morning, it had all but stopped after noon today, so they went ahead and pulled the tube!!!!!!!!!!!

She was so scared but it came out without a hitch!  If all continues to go well we are indeed hoping to get our of here tomorrow.  Ten days later.  Double the time we were supposed to stay, but the end is in sight for her and she couldn't be happier.

.
Plus the tube must have been causing the reaction to the lights...irritating a nerve?  Because that is now gone as well.  I am not sure if it was the tube or perhaps a bit of drama but either way I am glad she isn't getting horrible headaches from the lights and from the ipad anymore.  It was quite depressing living in the dark let me tell you;)

So we all are thrilled currently and if her X-ray checks out she has finally the permission to shower as well.  After 9 days she is desperate for a shower.

So. All is right in Emily's world ( the nutritionist also loaded her up on fat free snacks) and we are praying really hard to get released tomorrow if all still looks well in the am!

Thanks so much for following this journey with us.  We have several more weeks of recovery to go, but being at home will make it all so much easier!!!!

Love,
Amy
