One step forward

Emmi had a great night tonight.

She handled all the visitors last night and ate lots of yummy Cheesecake Factory fettuccine and of course cheesecake;)

She is walking now with just guidance...not support

She slept really well and is off the PCA and on oral pain meds instead;)

Every step is one more closer to home!

We had hoped to get the chest tubes out today...they are really painful for her, but it looks like that isn't gonna happen :(  she still had quite a bit of drainage from them.

We are however hopeful to get the central line out.  It's in her neck so it's akward for her.

Her incision looks great though.

Today our goals are to eat more, and to get up and walk the hallways.  She will hate it, but the more she moves the better for healing.  It's like a 20 minute process to get her to the bathroom with having to lug all the equipment, but it is a huge step for her.

Today will be busy, we have a lot of visitors coming again...but that makes the time fly!  We are so grateful to have so much support!!!!

I am keeping my fingers crossed to be released to home early next week...we had thought potentially Monday but if the chest tubes don't get pulled today then it becomes much more unlikely...we shall see.

Even at Tuesday, that would only be 6 days since she had massive open heart surgery.  That is amazing to me.

She is so incredibly tough!!!!!
